Zambia

Zambia was home for us for a couple of years so I could have easily doubled the size of this post. We went to most corners of Zambia and lots of pretty special places. Zambia has plenty to see and surprisingly, a bit of distance to cover. I have provided what I think are the highlights for any first time visitor to Zambia, but there is definitely much more to do than I have listed!

South Luangwa National Park

One of the prettiest parks we visited with a ton of wildlife

Siavonga

A town on the north shore of Lake Kariba. It gets incredibly warm and humid in the wet season, but feels like a place for a summer holiday.

Kafue National Park

Less touristy and large, this park felt ‘untouched’ and a bit more raw which is why I loved it.

The place we stayed at, Mukambi Safari Lodge, even had a resident hippo called Basil.

Livingstone & Victoria Falls

I could write many posts just about the town of Livingstone, as this is where we actually lived, but I’ll try and summarise what I loved most!

Firstly, and no surprise, Victoria Falls! We visited the falls probably close to a dozen times and it always amazed me how much it would change with the seasons. But no matter when you go, wet season or dry, you won’t be disappointed.

The Devils Pool: The ultimate infinity pool, with the drop off the side of the falls (100m+).

The river side lodges. We were lucky enough to get to stay at Islands of Siankaba, but there are lots of lodges that offer river front views with nature at your doorstep, sunset cruises and more.

The Royal Livingstone Express: Definitely do dinner on this beautifully restored old stream train.

The Royal Livingstone Hotel: Sundowners on the Zambezi river to the sound of the falls and hippos.

What could be better than that?
